The Sprint Cup Series will hold the Pure Michigan 400 this wee, at the Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, August 19th at 12:00PM. This will be the 23rd race of the year for the Sprint Cup Series, with many more to come including the very next event, which is called the IRWIN Tools Night Race, held in Bristol, Tennessee on Saturday, August 25th at 7:00PM. After that, the series will be at the Atlanta Speedway for the AdvoCare 500, held on September 2nd at 6:30PM, with the Federated Auto Parts 400 to follow shortly.

The most recent race on the calendar was the event at Watkins Glen and it was held on August 12th. Marcos Ambrose won that race, with Brad Keselowski coming in second and Jimmie Johnson taking the third spot. Jimmie Johnson also leads the standings right now with 777 points. However, things are very close right now, and Greg Biffle comes in at second and has 776, just one point away from taking the top spot away from Johnson. Then, there is Matt Kenseth is only two points away from the top spot as well. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is fourth and Brad Keselowski is fifth.
