The GP2 Series will hold the penultimate race of the year this week, September 7th through the 9th in Monza, Italy. This event happens at the Autodromo Nazionale. Last year's race number one was won by Filippi with Pic and Grosjean in second and third, and race two was won by Vietoris with Liemer and Bianchi in second and third. The final event of the year will be coming up after that, and it happens in Singapore from the 7th through the 9th. The series has made stops in Barcelona, Spain, Bahrain and at the track at Silverstone in the UK prior to this.
The last race on the calendar was at the world famous circuit in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, and was held from the 31st of August to the 2nd of September. Luiz Razia comes in first in the standings right now, having earned a total of 204 points. However, Davide Valsecchi has also been able to earn 204 points, and so they are currently neck to neck in the standings. The third placed driver in the table is James Calado, who is far behind the two leaders with 160 points. Esteban Gutierrez comes in fourth with 150 and Giedo Van der Garde is fifth.
