Rules Change for Tires and DRS at Wet Weather Events

Motor SportIn Racing News, the World Motor Sport Council has made some small changing to the regulations, particularly how it relates to DRS and Tires during wet weather. They met Friday in Milan, Italy and have determined to make the changes previously mentioned as well as some changes to the rules of curfew for the personnel on a team. The changes include the following:

A set of dry weather tires can now be carried into Saturday if both of the Friday sessions suffer from wet weather so that teams can complete more laps on Saturday. Also, it will now be up to the race director to determine whether or not adjustable rear wing (DRS) is prohibited. If the visibility is too low in races where there is wet weather he may prohibit the use. This is because of how different the speeds are between cars. Also, the curfew system has been restructured so that crews get the appropriate rest that they need.

The new season of Formula One racing kicks off with the Melbourne Grand Prix, which will be held in Australia from March 16th to the 18th.
